Privacy Policy
CallByClick is a Chrome extension plus a small Windows helper that lets you click a phone number on a web page and have your own Polycom desk phone dial it. This policy explains what the software can access and what happens to that information. The short version: your calls, phone settings and the pages you read stay on your computer and your own office network. The only thing we ever receive is the email address you activate with, to confirm your subscription.
Who we are
CallByClick is operated by a sole proprietorship registered in Armenia. Contact: contact@callbyclick.com.
What the software accesses
- Phone numbers on web pages you visit. The extension scans the pages you open for phone-number patterns so it can turn them into click-to-call buttons. This happens entirely inside your browser. The page content is never sent anywhere.
- Your phone and line settings. Your desk phone's IP address and admin password, and the name, account number and color of each line you add. These are stored in the extension's local storage on your computer, and the helper keeps a copy of the phone's password so it can restore it for you.
- Your Polycom desk phone, on your local network. The helper finds Polycom phones on your office network, and — with your click — configures your phone (enables its API and, if the phone is still on the factory password, sets a new one). When you click to call, it sends a dial command to that phone. These are the only network connections the helper makes, and they never leave your local network.
- Your subscription email. When you activate, the extension sends the email you subscribed with, plus your computer's name, to our license service (
license.callbyclick.com), which confirms with our payment provider (Lemon Squeezy) that the subscription is active and ties it to this one computer. It re-checks about once an hour. No other data is sent.
CallByClick does not use any Google account data or Google APIs.
Where your data lives
- Phone and line settings (including the phone's admin password) are stored locally in Chrome's extension storage on your device. They are never sent to us.
- The helper keeps a small local log file (
%LOCALAPPDATA%\CallByClick\helper.log) recording dial attempts and errors, and a local record of your phone's password (phones.json) so it can recover it for you. Both stay on your machine. - The numbers you dial go from the helper directly to your phone over your local network, and from your phone to your phone service exactly as any call you dial by hand. Nothing about who you call reaches us.
How your data is protected
- Almost nothing leaves your machine. The only outbound connections are to your own desk phone (local network) and to our license service, which receives only your subscription email and computer name. There is no analytics, no telemetry, no tracking.
- Local-only storage. Settings and phone passwords are held in the browser's extension storage on your device, protected by your operating system and browser profile.
- Minimal permissions. The extension requests local storage, the ability to talk to the helper (native messaging), a timer for the hourly subscription re-check, and access to our license service. It does not read your browsing history, cookies, or form data.
- Your phone's admin password is used only to configure and send dial commands to that phone. You can view it any time in Manage Settings.
What we do not do
- We do not collect, store, sell, or share your personal data, call records, or the contents of the pages you visit.
- We do not listen to, record, or route your calls. The software only tells your phone which number to dial.
- We do not run analytics on your activity.
Payments
Subscriptions are processed by our merchant of record, Lemon Squeezy. Your payment details are handled by them under their own privacy policy. Our license service holds your subscription email and the name of the computer it is activated on, for as long as the subscription is active; it is used for nothing else.
Removing CallByClick
- Remove any line from Manage Settings at any time.
- Click Deactivate in Manage Settings to release your computer from the subscription.
- Uninstalling the extension deletes its locally stored settings from your browser.
- Run
cbc-helper.exe --uninstallto remove the helper and its registration. It deliberately keeps its local record of your phone's password so a reinstall can recover it; delete%LOCALAPPDATA%\CallByClickand%APPDATA%\CallByClickto remove that too. - Email us to have your subscription email removed from the license service.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated effective date.
